Inspired by Mindanao was the dance concert of UP Mindanao Dance Ensemble way back on Feb 13, 2004. It was held at the SM Entertainment Plaza. Choreographed by Prof. Alma Flor Brigole, the artistic director of Dance Ensemble. See videos below

Digital Hoofer

Digital Storytelling Mindanao features one of the tap dancers of the UP Mindanao Dance Ensemble, Clyde Rubas. His life as a dancer was featured in the Digital Storytelling Mindanao. Clyde used to be the sole tap dancer of D.E. but then he went out of his way to teach Tap Dancing after his mentor and DE mento Prof. Alma Flor Brigole left for the States. Below is his video which was also uploaded in youtube.

The UP Mindanao Dance Ensemble was founded by Prof. Alma Flor Brigole, product of the distinguished Locsins Ballet headed by choregrapher Agnes Locsin. Alma Flor Brigole has made several pieces which will be uploaded in this site. So watch out for that.

The UP Mindanao Dance Ensemble Concert last Feb. 8, 2008

Yes, after the long wait, after the struggles and sacrifices. After the days when I had to skip classes and use up my own money for managing and publicity works, after the days when the group had to make extra efforts to stay up late or practice during free time just to master the dance steps, the concert finally occurred. After the efforts of our Alumni to help us with the editing of the dances and after the efforts of everyone to practice every day; something good finally happened.

And yes, it was because of the success’ hangover that was why I wasn’t able to update on the events right after the show. Everyone was so happy about it even the Chancellor constantly announced her regard to the group in her flag ceremonies and meetings. Yes, finally, the show occurred and it was very successful. The best thing about it was that it was very SATISFYING. It not only presented the different ways of seeing for the group and of UP Mindanao, it also presented another “Perspective” for me. Because of it, I am already less pessimistic. I am so proud of my very beloved UP Ensemble friends.

“All the best for us and for UP Mindanao; lets work harder for next year and aim for something up to the levels. “

Yes, that’s right, this is a blog about dancing specifcially about the dance experiences of the UP Mindanao Dance Ensemble. This blog should be intended to document the dance troups annual dance concert and other performances. This should also gather all members of the Dance Ensemble both resident and alumni. The Dance Ensemble was founded by the diva Prof. Alma Flor Brigole. While Ma’am Alma tours outside the country, the group will temporarily run under the supervisions of its old members and Alumni. The Dance Ensemble is a Jazz, Neoethnic and Contemporary dance group that aims to promote UP Mindanao and Mindanao as a whole. Welcome it to its blog ENJOY
